Many sick elderly in the community who do not required hospital admission need home help to look after them. Dr. Natarajan has, therefore, developed a training programme to equip women caregivers with knowledge and skills to look after the frail elderly in the families. The training will achieve two goals: (1) sick, disabled and bedridden elderly can avail of the services of trained elder care workers or nursing aids in their homes; and (2) Women from poor families can be gainful employed as geriatric care. Training of Elder Care Personnel is being organized by CEWA (Centre for the Welfare of the Aged), Karna Prayag Trust, YWCA and Sneha Deepam. Dr. Natarajan closely associates himself with these organizations in conducting the training programmes.
